What we warned you about has happened to us, too.
Today, SpiderPool blocked us without warning due to bugs in the PitBit firmware. We have already moved our BTC to another pool.
Regarding the PitBit firmware news: it turns out—based on our discussions with the team—that this bug isn't present in all PitBit builds, but only in older ones.
How did PitBit handle the discovery of a critical-level bug? They simply released a new version, while users who stayed on the old version kept mining with it—effectively attacking pools for over a year.
What should they have done? They should have urgently shut down all ASICs running that old version or forced a mandatory update for everyone.
Unfortunately, the PitBit team’s completely negligent approach to firmware versioning is causing problems for us and their users; meanwhile, many other pools have been incurring losses for a long time, paying out more to users than the ASICs running the broken firmware actually generate.
PitBit will remain fully blocked on our pool until they get their firmware update process sorted out. We also ask you to refrain from using older versions of PitBit firmware; please bear in mind that you could be banned from absolutely any pool.
